Tucson, Ariz. — Photometrics, a manufacturer of high-performance scientific cameras for life science applications announces it will host 30-minute educational imaging sessions and camera demonstrations for its new Prime Scientific CMOS cameras at Neuroscience 2016. Winner of multiple industry awards, Prime is the first and only camera to provide onboard computational intelligence to improve image quality by restoring buried signals, while Prime 95B is the first camera to offer 95% Quantum Efficiency (QE) and was built with Backside Illumination (BSI), making it the most sensitive camera available. The award winning Prime sCMOS camera incorporates the latest generation CMOS sensor in its design and packs a formidable FPGA-based Embedded Signal Processing engine, enabling powerful signal restoration and feature detection. These revolutionary capabilities significantly increase low-light image clarity and provide new ways to address data glut, a common problem when imaging at high frame rates. Prime is a high resolution camera with excellent sensitivity, low noise, high frame rates and an impressive dynamic range. The large field of view maximizes the usefulness of the imaging area, making it ideal for localization based super-resolution microscopy.
The Prime 95B Scientific CMOS camera is optimized for low-light microscopy with its near perfect 95 percent QE and 11µm x 11µm pixel area. This advance allows for the collection of nearly all available light, maximizing the signal-to-noise ratio of the experiment while minimizing cellular photo damage. The camera captures images using the full microscope field-of-view at over 41 frames per second (fps) with 16-bit images and 82fps with 12-bit images. The combination of extreme sensitivity, low noise and high frame rates positions Prime 95B as the leading scientific CMOS camera for low-light microscopy techniques, including single molecule fluorescence (SMF), confocal imaging and super-resolution microscopy (STORM, PALM).
Photometrics will host a 30-minute "Maximizing Sensitivity and Signal-to-Noise-Ratio (SNR) in Scientific Imaging" imaging session daily at 11:30 a.m. in booth 2172. Attendees will learn how CMOS and EMCCD technologies compare, how to maximize camera sensitivity and improve SNR ratios for low light imaging, then conclude with a BSI CMOS review. Supplementing the sessions are product demonstrations that will be held in the booth throughout each day of the exhibition.
